Membership Spotlight

Like Kiwanis, our members demonstrate a vast diversity.  Many of our members are contributors in so many projects and programs! Meet some of what makes Ellicott City Kiwanis GREAT!

Kiwanis Position(s):  Jenn is currently the Club President in the 2020-2021 administrative year as well as the Membership Committee Chair.  Additionally, she is a Capital District Key Club Zone Administrator, Capital District Aktion Club Administrator, and Division 4 Capital District Kiwanis Foundation Director.

Profession:  Jenn is a Transition Support Teacher in the Montgomery County Public School System, where she serves as a college and career counselor for students with disabilities.  Recently, she was recognized for the third time as an Outstanding Special Education Teacher by Montgomery County Council of Parent and Teacher Associations. Teaching has been a dream of hers since second grade and once she started volunteering with a therapeutic riding program in sixth grade, she knew special education is where her heart laid! Jenn loves going to work every day!

Community Activities:  There is no such thing as free time in Jenn’s life, as she is dedicated to serving the world one child and one community at a time while making the best better!  She also volunteers with the Carroll County 4-H program as an advisor of the Carroll County Ambassador Team and serves as Vice-President for the Maryland 4-H All-Stars.  

COURTNEY WALTON
Kiwanis Position:  Courtney is our immediate past president and committee chair for Fundraising, Promotions, and Marketing.

Profession: Courtney is a product manager for Oracle Hospitality.  She works to determine the needs of the market and guides development to build software to meet those needs.  She has been working at Oracle for almost 7 years, during which time she has worked as an Implementation Specialist, Technical Consultant, and Senior Project Consultant.

Community Activities:  Courtney is a community leader for Oracle Women’s Leadership, where she works to promote an inclusive environment for both men and women in the technology industry.  She helps organize events for coworkers, such as educational webinars that teach professional and personal development and networking events where employees can get to know some of their coworkers and increase their professional network.

Hobbies:  Courtney bought her first home in June 2016, and she really enjoys doing home improvements, gardening, and decorating her home.  She also loves spending time with friends and family, going to events at the Columbia Lakefront, seeing movies, eating at new restaurants, and working out.
