GENERAL MEETING–January 6, 2020 6:45pm
Our general club meeting is Monday, January 6th, at 6:45pm at Bob Evans in Ellicott City.  Please join us as we ring in the new year with our club and discuss upcoming events and business, including our brand new backpack project, led by Josh Hiscock, which we just finished the first stage of prior to HCPSS Winter Break.  Also please note: In past years, we have taken up a donation for our fabulous server Melanie.  If you would like to make a donation for a gift for Melanie for this year, please bring either cash or a check to the January 6th meeting, or contact Rich Funke if you cannot attend and would prefer to mail your donation.  Thank you!

MLK DAY OF SERVICE (and Club Social)–January 20th at 10am, lunch at 12pm
Each year, we celebrate the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr., champion of the civil rights movement and supporter of service to others.  “Everybody can be great because anybody can serve”.  On this day, we celebrate by doing our own acts of service.  Join your fellow Kiwanians at Glen Mar Church ( 4701 New Cut Road, Ellicott City, MD 21043), for a host of different service projects for people of all ages.  You can join at any time, but our plan is to gather there at 10am and then head to Uno Pizzeria down the road at 12 noon for lunch afterward!  Feel free to bring friends, family, and other guests to celebrate by serving!  More info here: https://glenmarumc.org/gmcevents/dayofservice/

Our very own Josh Hiscock is running for Trustee of the Chesapeake Region of the Capital District of Kiwanis International.  The Chesapeake Region is comprised of Divisions 4, 5, and 6 (Delaware, Howard County, Anne Arundel County, Baltimore County, and Prince George’s County). If elected, Josh’s term would go from October 1, 2020 through September 30, 2023. If elected to serve as Trustee, Josh would have a vote on the Capital District Kiwanis Board as one of the six Trustees. Serving as Trustee is a requirement for anyone who wishes to run for Governor of the Capital District of Kiwanis International – a future aspiration of Josh’s!  The election will take place on Saturday, January 25th at the next Divisional and Regional Council meeting, which takes place at HCC.  Please consider attending and supporting Josh!

This coming March, our club celebrates our 80th anniversary serving the children of Howard County.  We are hoping to plan a big event to celebrate, and we need your help!  Please save the date (see attached flier) and email Jennifer Hiscock (hiscockjenn@gmail.com) if you can help plan this event to celebrate our club.
